Research has shown that after approximately 3 hours, the life span of orally administered glucosamine is 50% in blood plasma, with nearly 80% of excretion from the body occurring within 8 hours. When administered intravenously, glucosamine elimination from the bloodstream is less than 2 hours. Because glucosamine is removed from the body so quickly, it is best to administer it in an extended release form. An extended release dosage form can enhance the effectiveness of glucosamine therapy by maintaining a steady concentration in the bloodstream over time, possibly allowing for improved accumulation in the surrounding tissues at the site of treatment. Confidenceusa Inc.'s technology enables the formulation of a high active load tablet using a minimum of release excipients, while not significantly increasing the size of the tablet more than other currently available immediate release tablets. Extended release technology is beneficial for all ingredients in Glucosamine Plus, making it the most effective glucosamine product available!
Since hyaluronic acid is a very large molecule, the degree of absorption of hyaluronic acid after oral administration has been vigorously debated. Recently, a study looked at the molecular size (weight) of hyaluronic acid in relationship to its absorbability. The investigators used a test involving Caco-2 cell monolayers, which is an accepted method of testing how well substances are absorbed in the intestines. Studies have shown a very good correlation between permeability in the Caco-2 model and intestinal absorption in humans. Several marketed sources of hyaluronic acid were tested. The researchers found that there is a great variability in the absorption of different types of hyaluronic acid and that the best absorption was observed for low molecular weight (less than 16,000 Daltons) hyaluronic acid. Therefore, we use low molecular weight hyaluronic acid in Glucosamine Plus.
In humans, the oral absorption rate of a LMW hyaluronic acid has been examined, and results show superior absorption. In laboratory studies, the absorbed hyaluronic acid was present in plasma, synovial fluid (the fluid that surrounds the joints) and cartilage. A study reported that administration of LMW hyaluronic acid supports joint health. Another study showed that oral ingestion of LMW hyaluronic acid provided support for healthy joint function in older adults.
